Hargreaves Associates, the San Francisco firm that designed the landscaped urban space
"Different kinds of plants will abound in the park. A garden of perennial flowers will bloom in one facet; decorative grasses will stand tall in another; canopy trees, known for their colorful fall foliage, will shade a different section; and a grove of pines will add a touch of green during the winter months in yet another. The air will be filled with the sound of water spouting from a fountain and flowing down a terraced area.""But the park also will have a seating area and an expanse of lawn where people can picnic, toss Frisbees and have some good outdoor fun. Petersen adds, "When the weather is nice, the park will be very, very sunny, because directly to the south is the historic arts building [the River East Art Center] which is low and will never block the sun."
